Patna, Jan 11 (NationPress) RJD leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav returned to Patna after an absence of nearly 40 days and vehemently criticized the NDA government alongside the Election Commission. He asserted that the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections were marred by the misuse of state machinery.

While addressing reporters at Patna airport, Tejashwi stated, “In the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, it was the machinery that triumphed, not the people. The NDA and the Election Commission have transformed Loktantra into Dhantantra and Machinetantra. We are aware of the conspiracies that took place. This election was characterized by deception and manipulation.

He mentioned that the establishment of the new government has raised significant doubts among the populace of Bihar and the nation. Nevertheless, he emphasized that the RJD would engage in constructive politics.

“Regardless of the circumstances, we will pursue positive politics. For the first 100 days, I will refrain from commenting on this government's policies or decisions. We will see when our mothers and sisters receive Rs 2 lakh in their accounts, when one crore jobs are provided to the youth, and when 4–5 industries are set up in each district as promised in the joint manifesto. It is the government's duty to fulfill these pledges,” Yadav stated.

Tejashwi had departed Bihar during the inaugural Assembly session of the newly formed government and reportedly traveled to Europe before returning to New Delhi.

During his absence, he also appeared before the Rouse Avenue Court regarding the land-for-jobs case.

His lengthy absence attracted criticism from NDA leaders. However, upon his return, Tejashwi openly challenged the Nitish Kumar-led government to deliver on its electoral commitments, setting the stage for a politically contentious period for the ruling alliance.

In the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, the RJD faced a significant defeat, securing only 25 seats.

Other opposition parties, including Congress, CPI-ML, CPI, CPM, and IIP, also experienced poor performance. The total opposition strength in the Bihar Assembly currently stands at 35 MLAs.

Conversely, the NDA won 202 seats, comprising BJP 89, JDU 85, LJPRV 19, HAM five, and RLM four seats.

Point of View
