Patna, July 23 (NationPress) The Bihar Legislative Assembly's monsoon session on Wednesday was marked by significant drama and uproar, resulting in an adjournment following a fierce exchange between the ruling party and the opposition.
After the session, Tejashwi Yadav, the Leader of the Opposition, addressed the media at his official residence, launching a sharp critique of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sinha.
Tejashwi highlighted that while he raised concerns over the timing of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list, senior figures from the ruling party, including the Deputy Chief Minister, made inappropriate and disrespectful remarks during his speech.
The Bihar Leader of the Opposition pointed out that the Deputy Chief Minister commented, “How much will he speak?” while he was addressing the assembly, which he labeled as “disrespectful to the dignity of the House.”
“If the Leader of Opposition cannot speak in the House, then who will?” Tejashwi questioned, accusing ruling party leaders of intentionally creating chaos to undermine the dignity of the House.
He also noted that the Speaker reprimanded the Deputy Chief Minister and a minister, underscoring the seriousness of the situation.
Challenging the voter revision initiative, Tejashwi stated that the Election Commission’s affidavit in the Supreme Court does not mention foreign citizens, yet ruling party leaders claim that fake voters originate from Nepal and Bangladesh, labeling it an attempt to mislead the public.
The RJD leader criticized the BJP, asking, “If the issue of fake voters is genuine, why has it not been resolved despite the BJP being in power in Bihar since 2005 and at the Centre for the last 11 years?”
He accused the ruling party of avoiding debate when faced with evidence and instead creating disruption.
Taking a pointed jab at Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Tejashwi remarked that the Chief Minister began speaking without understanding the subject matter, expressing “sympathy” for his condition.
“Everyone in the House knows the topic of discussion, but the Chief Minister does not, and he keeps saying whatever comes to his mind,” he said.
Tejashwi Yadav alleged that Bihar’s government is now being operated by remote control from Delhi.
“Previously, voters chose the government, but now the government and the election commission are selecting the voters,” he added.
This incident has further escalated the political climate in Bihar, with the opposition ramping up its criticisms of the government regarding the voter list revision process.
