Hyderabad, March 9 (NationPress) Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Sunday accused that there is a calculated conspiracy to obstruct 42 per cent reservations for backward classes. He mentioned that caste census data has been gathered to enhance policies aimed at backward communities, criticizing opposition parties for their attempts to misrepresent caste-based statistics.

Speaking at the All India Padmashali Mahasabha, he emphasized that his administration has operated with transparency during the caste census.

“We will not permit anyone to undermine the rights of backward communities. There is a systematic effort to hinder 42 per cent reservations for BCs, but we will remain resolute against it,” he asserted.

He reassured the Padmashali community that the government is dedicated to ensuring justice and equitable representation for them.

Reiterating his government’s commitment to uplifting marginalized communities, the Chief Minister vowed steadfast support to provide economic, political, and employment opportunities for Padmashalis.

Revanth Reddy also pledged complete backing to the handloom sector and its artisans. He announced the allocation of Rs 600 crore for handloom orders for 1.3 crore sarees to support weavers and promote the handloom industry. These sarees will be distributed among women’s self-help groups.

In addition, he revealed plans to establish the Indian Institute of Handloom Technology in Telangana, which will be named in honor of former minister Konda Laxman Bapuji.

Paying homage to the late leader and recalling his significant contributions to the Telangana movement, the CM also announced the renaming of the Asifabad Medical College after Konda Laxman Bapuji.

The Chief Minister expressed regret that the previous administration neglected to honor Bapuji’s legacy following his death, a grievance that the Padmashali community still remembers. Acknowledging the efforts of ‘Tiger’ Ale Narendra, another significant figure in the Telangana movement, CM Reddy criticized previous political games that led to his marginalization. He assured that under his leadership, Padmashalis would receive the recognition and opportunities they rightfully deserve.

The state government will also fund the construction of the Markandeya Bhavan in Sholapur with a budget of Rs 1 crore to preserve Padmashali heritage, he added.
