During their hour-long discussion, the Chief Minister provided updates on the ongoing rescue efforts in the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel located in Nagarkurnool district.
Multiple agencies from both the state and central governments are involved in the operation to rescue eight individuals trapped since February 22, following a partial collapse of the tunnel.
Earlier, Prime Minister Modi had reached out to the Chief Minister by phone on February 22, following the tunnel incident, to inquire about the situation and pledged the Centre’s full support for the rescue efforts.
Accompanied by Minister for Information Technology and Industry D. Sridhar Babu during the meeting, Revanth Reddy highlighted the insufficient allocations for Telangana in the Union Budget for 2025-26.
The Chief Minister also appealed to Prime Minister Modi for backing regarding proposed infrastructure and development projects within the state.
Revanth Reddy requested assistance from the Centre for the Regional Ring Road (RRR), the second phase of the Hyderabad Metro Rail project, the Musi Riverfront Development project, and the restoration of lakes.
He is expected to meet with various Central ministers later in the day to discuss particular projects for which the state government seeks support.
Previously, the Chief Minister met with the Prime Minister in July of last year, urging the Centre to disburse pending funds, allocate coal blocks to public sector miner Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), and fulfill commitments under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act.
Revanth Reddy also requested the Prime Minister to initiate the transfer of 2,450 acres of defence land to the state government for infrastructure initiatives.
The state government is also advocating for the revival of the Information Technology and Investment Region (ITIR) project, which was previously sanctioned for Hyderabad by the earlier Congress-led UPA government.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister urged the Centre to approve 25 lakh houses for the state.
