Hyderabad, April 9 (NationPress) Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday urged the public to unite with the Gandhi family to challenge the BJP.
During his address at the Congress Party's Chintan Baithak along the banks of the renowned Sabarmati river in Ahmedabad, Revanth Reddy pledged to halt the BJP's influence in Telangana.
He called upon all supporters of Mahatma Gandhi’s principles to rally behind Rahul Gandhi in the ongoing struggle against the Modi government.
“We must all strive to overcome the descendants of Godse and PM Modi. I leave here with the optimism to uplift farmers, women, and youth as discussed in the CWC meeting,” a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office quoted him as stating.
He emphasized that Mahatma Gandhi engaged in numerous battles against the British for over 30 years, including the Dandi Satyagraha.
“The British did not assault Mahatma Gandhi, but within six months of India’s independence, Godse took his life,” he noted.
He criticized Prime Minister Modi for pledging two crore jobs annually. “Eleven years have passed, and the Centre should have provided over 20 crore jobs by now. Only PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah seem to have found employment,” he remarked.
He further condemned the Modi government for enacting “black laws” against farmers, recalling that the farming community had protested against the oppressive laws for 14 to 15 months, yet the Central government refused to engage in dialogue.
He asserted that the Congress government in Telangana delivered on Rahul Gandhi's promises by waiving Rs 21,000 crore in farm loans, providing significant relief to 25 lakh farmers within just 10 months of taking office.
He mentioned that the Congress government also conducted a caste census as pledged by Rahul Gandhi.
He remarked that the Telangana region was liberated from Nizam rule under the leadership of the first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and the first Home Minister Vallabhbhai Patel.
“This is why the people of Telangana maintain a connection with the people of Gujarat and the descendants of Vallabhbhai Patel. Vallabhbhai Patel liberated Telangana, and Sonia Gandhi granted statehood to Telangana,” he added.
