Hyderabad, Feb 14 (NationPress) The narrative surrounding the Telangana movement has been misrepresented, suggesting that only one family was involved, asserted Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Friday.

He emphasized that numerous groups contributed to the Telangana movement and advocated for more literature to accurately depict its history.

The Chief Minister made these remarks during the launch of ‘Vijaya Telangana,’ authored by former minister T. Devender Goud.

In a critique of former chief minister and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) President K. Chandrasekhar Rao's family, Revanth Reddy accused them of attempting to rewrite the history of the Telangana movement to favor their narrative.

“The contributions of students and young individuals who were part of the Telangana movement must be acknowledged in history. The KCR family has sought to portray the movement as one led by a single person, a single family, and a single political party,” he stated.

The Chief Minister expressed that Devender Goud is among the leaders he respects the most. He commended the former minister for documenting the Telangana movement from the viewpoint of the populace.

He reminisced about Devender Goud's brave decision to establish a political entity for the Telangana cause, noting that he was the party's second-in-command at that time.

“Devender Goud sacrificed a promising career and came forward with the Telangana flag. He undertook a padayatra to convey a powerful message that Telangana’s prosperity is tied to the waters of the Godavari River. Subsequently, the rulers initiated the Pranahita-Chevella project after his padayatra,” the Chief Minister mentioned.

He also recalled how, during the Telangana movement, young people expressed their support by writing TG not only on their vehicles but also on walls, a practice initiated by Devender Goud.

The Chief Minister asserted that in response to the people's aspirations, the Congress government changed TS to TG shortly after assuming power, declaring ‘Jaya Jayahe Telangana’ as the state’s official anthem. “These were all ideas from the people, not mine,” he remarked.

He highlighted that the government pledged a house and ₹1 crore to nine activists who made significant sacrifices during the Telangana movement.

Revanth Reddy lamented that the absence of leaders like Devender Goud in active politics is a significant loss for Telangana, urging that principled leaders should enter politics.
