Hyderabad, July 2 (NationPress) Sigachi Industries reported on Wednesday that the explosion at its facility located in Pashamylaram, Telangana, tragically claimed the lives of 40 individuals and left 33 others injured.
This statement marks the company's first public communication since the incident occurred at their Pashamylaram industrial site in the Sangareddy district near Hyderabad on Monday.
“It is with deep sorrow that we disclose the details of the unfortunate incident at Sigachi Industries' Pashamylaram facility, which resulted in the loss of 40 cherished team members and injuries to over 33 individuals,” the statement read.
“Our thoughts are with those impacted by this devastating event. Since the incident, we have been actively managing emergency responses, providing support to families, and cooperating with ongoing investigations,” it continued.
Sigachi Industries announced a commitment to provide an ex gratia compensation of Rs one crore to the families of those who lost their lives, while those injured will receive comprehensive medical and rehabilitation assistance.
“As we await investigatory findings, we wish to clarify that the incident was not due to a reactor explosion at our plant, contrary to reports in some media outlets. We will continue to provide updates as we gather more information from the investigations,” the company stated.
Additionally, the company revealed that operations at the plant will be temporarily halted for approximately 90 days.
On the other hand, state Health Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha visited the accident site on Wednesday, where rescue operations entered their third day.
He reported that the condition of the injured individuals receiving treatment at various hospitals is stable.
As of now, 11 people remain unaccounted for, and rescue teams are tirelessly clearing the debris.
Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Mahesh Kumar Goud and AICC in-charge for Telangana Meenakshi Natrajan also visited the scene of the tragedy and met with the injured at a nearby hospital.
