Key Takeaways
Hyderabad, April 3 (NationPress) Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of Telangana announced on Friday that his administration has set its sights on making the state the textile capital of South Asia by the year 2047.
He pledged that the government will support textile investors by providing essential resources such as infrastructure, land, power, water, and various incentives, as well as fast-tracked approvals.
During his address at the Asian Textile Conference 2026, he expressed his ambition for garments produced in Telangana to be recognized and worn in every corner of the world.
He emphasized that Telangana’s policies align with international standards. "Our most significant asset is our skilled workforce. If you have a vision, we are the perfect partners for you. Together, let’s create a comprehensive textiles ecosystem that can change the world," he stated.
He highlighted that Telangana is connecting various sectors, from the cotton fields of the state to the fashion runways of cities like London, New York, Paris, Milan, Tokyo, and Dubai.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister noted that Hyderabad is not just a center for Indian film production but is also gaining international recognition, as evidenced by Netflix's recent launch of its Eyeline Studios in the city.
“Tollywood and Bollywood already consider Hyderabad their base, and now Hollywood has joined this dynamic. We will encourage the film sector to procure their fashion needs directly from Telangana,” he remarked.
He also stated that environmental sustainability is a top priority for the government, and plans are in place to develop green textile hubs within the state.
"We will equip the youth—especially women—with training that merges traditional techniques with modern practices in design, cutting, and stitching," he added.
He reminded attendees of India's illustrious history in textile craftsmanship, where art, culture, and tradition have significantly influenced the textile landscape for centuries.
“Textiles are integral to Telangana’s heritage. During the Nizams' era, traders from around the world came to Hyderabad for textiles and pearls. Our region boasts a rich tapestry of textile traditions, including the acclaimed Pochampally Ikat, Gadwal sarees, Warangal Durries, and Narayanpet handlooms," he explained.
The Chief Minister asserted that there are historical reasons that place Telangana at the forefront of the textile industry.
He pointed out that Telangana leads India in cotton production, with its cotton being recognized worldwide for its superior quality.
"We have inaugurated the top-tier Kakatiya Mega Textile Park in Warangal, which encompasses numerous apparel parks. Telangana has both the talent and determination to succeed," he concluded.
Reiterating Telangana's leadership in various sectors, including deep tech, pharma, life sciences, aerospace, defence manufacturing, and energy, he shared the vision of transforming the state into a one-trillion-dollar economy by 2034 and a three-trillion-dollar economy by 2047.
