Ten Injured in Violent Clash at Kharkharee Colliery, MP's Office Set Ablaze

Dhanbad, Jan 9 (NationPress) A ferocious clash unfolded on Thursday between the supporters of Giridih MP Chandra Prakash Choudhary and JMM leader Karu Yadav over the control of operations at an outsourcing company located in Dhanbad’s Kharkharee colliery, according to the police.
The altercation involved intense gunfire and explosions from both factions, resulting in over 10 individuals sustaining serious injuries, including Baghmara SDPO Purushottam Singh.
The violence escalated to arson when assailants set ablaze the office of MP Chandra Prakash Choudhary situated in the Madhuban police station area. Additionally, at least 10 motorcycles were also incinerated during the chaos.
This conflict reportedly ignited from a dispute concerning construction activities by Hilltop Rise, an outsourcing firm operating at the Kharkharee colliery, which is under Bharat Coking Coal Ltd. (BCCL). The company was engaged in constructing a boundary wall in Babudih, which the MP’s supporters opposed, insisting on local job provision before the project commenced.
Meanwhile, supporters of Karu Yadav advocated for the work to commence without delay.
Tensions escalated on Thursday when both parties confronted each other, leading to an exchange of bombs and gunfire. The detonations resonated throughout the vicinity, causing residents to panic and seek shelter.
During the skirmish, a close aide of MP Choudhary, Subhash Singh, also suffered serious injuries. Local reports indicate that supporters of Karu Yadav are believed to have targeted him with gunfire.
Initially, police from various stations were hesitant to intervene due to the severity of the violence. However, Baghmara SDPO Purushottam Singh later arrived with reinforcements, witnessing several motorcycles engulfed in flames.
Despite this, the assailants also attacked the police, resulting in the SDPO sustaining a severe head injury. He was promptly taken to a local nursing home for initial treatment and subsequently referred to Dhanbad for further care.
Eventually, JMM leader Karu Yadav was apprehended.
The atmosphere in the region remains tense, with a significant police presence monitoring the situation.
