Jamshedpur, April 7 (NationPress) Communal tension escalated in the Dhalbhumgarh locality of Jamshedpur on Monday when miscreants reportedly uprooted religious flags near a temple and scattered banned meat at the scene.

The incident took place close to the Hanuman Vatika temple, situated at the block headquarters, where flags had been put up in celebration of Ram Navami.

The news quickly spread on Monday morning, igniting protests.

Numerous residents flooded the streets, obstructing National Highway-18 near Dhalbhumgarh from 9 a.m. The blockade persisted until 1 p.m., leading to extensive traffic jams on both sides of the highway.

In reaction, local businesses in Dhalbhumgarh and Narsinghgarh were closed. Protesters shouted slogans calling for immediate action against those accountable.

East Singhbhum (Jamshedpur) Rural Superintendent of Police (SP) Rishav Garg, Ghatsila Sub-Divisional Magistrate Sunil Chandra, Musabani Police Station Incharge Sandeep Bhagat, and other officials arrived at the scene to calm the agitated crowd.

Residents claimed that such incidents are not uncommon and demanded stringent measures against those undermining religious sentiments.

They recalled a similar occurrence a year ago at the same location, where banned meat was discovered near the temple, leading to sustained unrest.

According to locals, a grand Ram Navami procession took place on Sunday, with multiple religious flags displayed near the temple, concluding late that evening.

On Monday morning, residents found the flag torn down, banned meat scattered nearby, and several temple items, including a bell, missing.

Locals suspect that the act was executed at night as part of a calculated attempt to disrupt communal harmony.

Rural SP Rishabh Garg stated that a special cell has been established to investigate the matter from all perspectives.

“Stringent action will be taken once those involved are identified,” he assured.
