Why Were Three Youths Arrested in Hyderabad for Making a Drug-Inspired Reel?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Hyderabad, Feb 17 (NationPress) - On Tuesday, local police apprehended three young individuals for reportedly showcasing illegal narcotics as a sacrificial offering to Lord Shiva during the Maha Shivratri celebrations.
The Charminar Zone Task Force acted promptly following a social media alert from Hyderabad Police Commissioner V. C. Sajjanar regarding a video created by these youths.
The suspects, hailing from Jangammet in Falaknuma, were subsequently transferred to the Falaknuma police station for further proceedings.
Two of the identified suspects are Sri Charan and Vijay Krishna.
Commissioner Sajjanar cautioned that fleeting social media fame would not shield them from legal repercussions. “These are merely transient pleasures, while the consequences of your actions will linger for a lifetime. Don’t jeopardize your promising future for the allure of social media,” he warned.
Earlier, the Commissioner had expressed concerns over the circulated video.
“To present drugs before a deity? Would you really risk everything for fame?” he questioned.
“Maha Shivratri symbolizes devotion and a path towards redemption. Using this sacred occasion to flaunt narcotics in the name of divine blessing is an utterly despicable act, a form of madness,” he stated.
Sajjanar emphasized that this is a grave offense that could lead to imprisonment. “Once the NDPS Act is enforced...You will regret your actions for the rest of your life,” he cautioned.
He urged the youth to avoid sacrificing their bright futures for mere likes and views that provide temporary satisfaction.
“We will not overlook such incidents. Stringent legal measures will be initiated against those involved. Utilize social media as a canvas for creativity, not as a portal to addiction,” he added.
Shortly after the Commissioner’s statement, law enforcement took swift action to detain the three individuals.
