Is the Viral Message about a Woman Luring Children in Hyderabad Real?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Hyderabad, Feb 17 (NationPress) The Police Commissioner of Hyderabad, V. C. Sajjanar, has categorically stated that a message circulating regarding a woman attempting to lure children for kidnapping in the city is entirely false.
“There have been no reports of such incidents or gangs. Residents are urged to refrain from believing or sharing unverified messages that incite fear. Please do not take the law into your hands based on mere rumors,” the Commissioner shared on ‘X’.
“Should you observe any suspicious person or activity, please alert the police immediately. We will check the facts and take necessary action. Trust official updates - not forwarded messages. Think. Verify. Act responsibly,” he added.
The Commissioner’s reaction came in light of a ‘child safety alert’ and a ‘wanted’ notice being shared on social media. This notice features a photograph of an unidentified woman and warns the public about her alleged attempts to lure children.
It describes the unknown woman, claiming she carries a bag filled with chocolates.
Rumors concerning child kidnapping gangs operating in the city have been circulating for several days, which the police have confirmed to be false.
In a separate post, the Hyderabad Police Commissioner has also warned that strict actions will be taken against youths who created a reel showcasing drugs in front of a temple.
“Displaying drugs before God? Are you willing to risk everything for fame?” questioned the Commissioner.
“Mahashivratri symbolizes devotion... a step towards salvation. On this sacred occasion, displaying drugs under the guise of divine grace is a heinous act. It is utter madness,” he remarked.
Sajjanar emphasized that this constitutes a serious crime that could lead to imprisonment. “Once the NDPS Act is enforced, you will regret it for the rest of your life,” he warned.
He advised the youth not to jeopardize their promising futures for temporary likes and views.
“We will not overlook such actions. Stringent legal measures will be pursued against those accountable. Use social media as a platform for creativity, not as an entryway to addiction,” he concluded.
