Kolkata, Sep 16 (NationPress) A video that went viral on Tuesday has ignited a political controversy in West Bengal. Trinamool Congress legislator Abdur Rahim Boxi was seen accusing the BJP of plotting to undermine the Mamata Banerjee-led state government through the imposition of President’s Rule.
Boxi, who also serves as the district president of Trinamool in Malda, made his remarks during a public gathering held late Monday in Ratua, Malda. This meeting aimed to protest against the alleged mistreatment of Bengali-speaking individuals, particularly migrant workers, in states ruled by the BJP. Several senior leaders from the ruling party in Malda were present at the event.
“They believe they can topple the state government in West Bengal using President’s Rule and the misuse of central forces like the Border Security Force and the Central Industrial Security Force. They are fantasizing about seizing control of our esteemed state secretariat, Nabanna, through such undemocratic tactics. However, they will never succeed,” Boxi asserted in the viral footage.
He further claimed that the masterminds behind this alleged BJP conspiracy were the leader of the opposition in the West Bengal assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, and the former state president of the BJP in West Bengal, Sukanta Majumdar, who is also a Union minister of state.
“We are familiar with the traitor, Mir Jafar, from the Battle of Plassey. In West Bengal today, we have two new Mir Jafars: Suvendu Adhikari and Sukanta Majumdar. Their only goal is to disrupt the peace and harmony of our state,” Boxi stated in the viral video.
This isn't the first instance of Boxi's statements gaining traction online. Earlier this month, another video surfaced from Malda where he threatened BJP leaders with acid attacks if they continued to label Bengali-speaking migrant workers as “illegal Bangladeshis or Rohingya infiltrators.”
On that occasion, he also urged the public to boycott the BJP and destroy their party flags.
