Mumbai, Sep 8 (NationPress) In the midst of a political upheaval sparked by controversial statements from Trinamool Congress leader Abdur Rahim Boxi, the Shiv Sena-UBT has publicly expressed its unwavering support for West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. They have accused the BJP of trying to undermine the state government through a series of violent acts and widespread unrest.
Shiv Sena-UBT spokesperson Anand Dubey claimed that the BJP has persistently aimed to instigate chaos in West Bengal but has consistently met with failure, thanks to the steadfast backing of the populace for Banerjee's leadership.
This statement follows the emergence of a viral video featuring Boxi, the Trinamool's Malda district President, who is seen threatening to "pour acid" down the throat of anyone criticizing migrant workers from Bengal. These remarks were allegedly made during a public gathering in Malatipur on Saturday night.
In the video, Boxi is heard expressing his outrage: "I strongly resent the abominable comments made by a BJP MLA. How dare he insult our Bengali citizens who leave the state in search of work? I caution him—I will pour acid into the throat of anyone making such statements to silence them."
In response to the escalating controversy, Dubey informed IANS: "In West Bengal, the BJP continuously attempts to destabilize Mamata Banerjee's government by inciting violence and conflict. Yet, they consistently fall short. The BJP dispatches their senior leaders, makes grand promises, and stirs chaos, but the people of Bengal are politically astute and strongly support Mamata Banerjee."
He added that Banerjee has been dedicated to safeguarding Bengali identity, fostering culture, and advancing development in the state.
"In contrast, the BJP is synonymous with acid attacks, bombings, and gunfire. The public will not be swayed by their theatrics and will defeat them in the elections. The government is fully capable of maintaining law and order," he stated.
Addressing the upcoming Vice Presidential election scheduled for September 9, Dubey remarked that while the NDA possesses numerical strength, the Opposition remains optimistic.
"The election will involve MPs from both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha casting their votes. NDA candidate C.P. Radhakrishnan seems to have the numbers, but opposition candidate B. Sudarshan Reddy is in a favorable position. Many MPs are being contacted. Politics is a realm of possibilities. Remember the 2022 election? This time, outcomes may not unfold as anticipated. It's crucial to participate in elections—success or failure is part of democracy," he stated.
Dubey also criticized Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis regarding the extensive 'Deva Bhau' advertisements that have been published in major newspapers, showcasing him paying homage to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The opposition has raised concerns about potential misuse of funds and questioned the origins of the financing.
"These expensive advertisements are pervasive across television and newspapers. Curiously, they fail to disclose the name of the printer or publisher. Is the Chief Minister promoting himself, or is there an ulterior motive? If genuine work had been accomplished, people would naturally discuss it," remarked Dubey.
He criticized the timing of the advertisement campaign, highlighting the inadequate infrastructure during the ongoing Ganpati festival.
"Instead of repairing roads and investing in public welfare, the focus is on costly public relations campaigns. This behavior is unbecoming of a Chief Minister with a full majority. Whether he allocates funds for publicity or public service, the reality is that the people are not impressed."
