Chennai, May 22 (NationPress) The Tamil Nadu BJP has intensified its critique of the ruling DMK regarding the purported multi-crore TASMAC scam, insisting that justice must be served even in light of the Supreme Court’s recent remarks on the Enforcement Directorate’s actions.
BJP spokesperson A.N.S. Prasad highlighted that while the apex court expressed concerns regarding the ED’s investigation, it did not rule out the potential for extensive corruption.
“The Supreme Court has never indicated that corruption amounting to thousands of crores did not occur,” he stated.
Prasad accused the DMK of excelling in what he referred to as “scientific corruption,” pointing to a history filled with scandals and convictions involving its ministers.
“The DMK’s past, the involvement of its leaders in numerous scams, and their prior convictions make it clear that corruption is deeply ingrained within the party. Some members have even outsmarted investigative bodies and manipulated legal proceedings,” he said.
The BJP representative affirmed that many DMK leaders, both current and former ministers, remain under ongoing investigation and may encounter additional legal repercussions.
“Those who have exploited the system for years are now under scrutiny once more. The investigation is far from over,” Prasad affirmed.
Addressing the alleged misconduct within the Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation (TASMAC), Prasad asserted that the scam entailed corruption worth thousands of crores.
“The citizens of Tamil Nadu deserve to know where their money has been diverted. Those accountable for this scientific corruption will undoubtedly face justice,” he stated.
He reiterated the BJP’s position that bodies like the ED should operate free from interference and urged the judiciary to ensure that justice is served in this case.
“Political protection for corrupt individuals must not continue,” he stressed.
Prasad concluded by encouraging the people of Tamil Nadu to see through the “victimhood facade” being presented by the DMK and to support the call for a comprehensive and transparent investigation into the TASMAC scam.
