Lucknow, July 13 (NationPress) Shrikant Sharma, the BJP MLA representing Mathura-Vrindavan, has raised concerns regarding the escalating traffic chaos in the sacred city dedicated to Lord Krishna, attributing it to the ineffectiveness of local governance.
In a social media post, the legislator highlighted the lack of traffic police presence at crucial intersections within this revered town and expressed alarm over the rampant violation of essential traffic protocols, including illegal encroachments on public roadways, which are significantly contributing to severe traffic congestion.
During his visit to Vrindavan this morning, Sharma experienced firsthand the absence of law enforcement at vital locations, particularly near the famous Lord Krishna temples. He reported being stuck in traffic for hours due to unauthorized vehicles accessing restricted areas.
"The traffic system in Vrindavan has long been chaotic. Today, between 7:45 and 8:00 AM, there was not a single police officer present at critical points like the multi-level parking and Prem Mandir intersection, allowing external vehicles to continuously enter prohibited routes," he stated in a post on platform X.
He further emphasized that daily traffic jams on the Vrindavan route create significant hardships for both pilgrims and local residents.
"A considerable number of private cars were parked at Varaha Ghat and Sunrakh Road, and the presence of these vehicles, along with temporary encroachments, results in prolonged traffic jams throughout the day on roads leading to almost all major temples, causing distress to both visiting devotees and local inhabitants," he added.
As a former minister in the Uttar Pradesh government, Sharma urged officials to address the situation in the holy town and lamented the inadequate implementation of strict directives from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath regarding the enhancement of the traffic system in Mathura-Vrindavan.
"The UP CM has explicitly instructed that all principal routes, particularly those leading to significant temples, must remain free from temporary encroachments and traffic bottlenecks. Designated vending zones should be established," he insisted, calling on the responsible authorities to heed and enforce the Chief Minister's directives.
