What Led to the Crash of an Unidentified Aircraft in Punjab Village?

Chandigarh, May 7 (NationPress) A tragic incident occurred early Wednesday morning when an unidentified aircraft crashed and ignited in Aklian Kalan village, located approximately 20 km from the district center in Bathinda, Punjab. The incident resulted in the loss of one civilian’s life and left nine others injured.

The district officials refrained from providing comments on the crash, stating that any information will be released by defense authorities. The site of the crash has been secured by defense personnel and police teams.

The deceased has been identified as Govind, a farm laborer from Haryana. The crash happened around 2 a.m. in fields that had recently been harvested for wheat, near residential areas.

Eyewitnesses reported that several farm laborers observed an aircraft flying at a low altitude before it ultimately crashed into the fields.

As locals approached the wreckage, an explosion occurred, resulting in one death and injuries to nine individuals.

“Upon seeing the burning aircraft, some individuals rushed to assist the pilot. As they neared the plane, it exploded, causing injuries to several of them,” an eyewitness recounted to the media.

The injured were transported to Shaheed Bhai Mani Singh Civil Hospital, with one person referred to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Bathinda for further treatment.

Senior district officials visited both the crash site and the hospital. Police teams have been stationed at the district hospital to ensure safety.

In the wake of India's military operations against terror camps in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), termed ‘Operation Sindoor’, two international flights headed for Amritsar were redirected to Delhi, and schools near the border with Pakistan have been closed in Punjab.

According to a statement from Air India, all flights to and from Jammu, Srinagar, Leh, Jodhpur, Amritsar, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Chandigarh, and Rajkot have been canceled until noon.

Punjab authorities announced the closure of all educational institutions in border regions with Pakistan. Schools and colleges in Gurdaspur and Pathankot will remain closed for three days, while those in Fazilka will stay shut until further notice.

Earlier today, following the deadly Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 civilian lives, the Indian Army executed ‘Operation Sindoor’, successfully targeting nine high-value terror sites deep within Pakistan.

The operation was meticulously carried out, targeting terrorist infrastructure linked to the groups responsible for the attack.

These strikes were part of India's response to the April 22 terror attack that resulted in the deaths of 25 Indians and one Nepali national in Jammu and Kashmir.

An official spokesperson for the Indian Army confirmed that the strikes were targeted, measured, and aimed at avoiding escalation. The identified targets were known terror camps and infrastructure located in Pakistan and PoK.
