Visakhapatnam, May 18 (NationPress) In a tragic incident, four children suffocated to death inside a locked car in the Vijayanagaram district of Andhra Pradesh on Sunday. The heartbreaking event occurred in Dwarapudi village within Vijayanagaram Cantonment.
As per police reports, four children, all under the age of 10, entered a parked vehicle while they were playing. The doors of the car were locked, which trapped them inside.
The grim situation was discovered when the parents of the children initiated a desperate search after they failed to return home since the morning. Ultimately, their bodies were located in a car parked near the local Mahila Mandali office.
The children, identified as Uday (8), Charumati (8), Charishma (6), and Manasvi (6), had ventured out to play that morning. Charumati and Charishma were sisters, and the other two were their friends. When their absence became prolonged, their families began to worry and search for them.
Although the car doors were initially open, the children inadvertently locked themselves inside while playing, leading to their tragic suffocation.
The loss of these four young lives has cast a shadow over the village.
This marks the second such heartbreaking occurrence in the Telugu states within the last month. In April, two young girls lost their lives due to suffocation after being trapped in a locked car in Telangana’s Ranga Reddy district.
In that incident, which took place in Damaragidda village in Chevella mandal, two cousins aged four and five entered a parked car while playing outside a relative’s home. The doors locked by accident, causing the children to be trapped inside for an extended period in sweltering heat.
Family members began searching for the girls after they had been unaccounted for a considerable time. They were ultimately found unconscious inside the vehicle and were rushed to a nearby hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
In another unfortunate event in the Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh, three children tragically drowned in a pit filled with rainwater on the same day.
This incident took place in Devarajapuram of Kuppam mandal. The deceased have been identified as Shalini (5), Ashwin (6), and Gautami (8).
