A source from the Kerala Police informed IANS that Dileep Shankar checked into the hotel two days prior.
However, hotel staff grew concerned upon noticing a lack of activity in his room and a foul odor coming from it.
Upon breaking down the door, they discovered the actor's lifeless body.
The police were notified immediately, and a team was dispatched to the location to commence investigations.
According to police sources, inquiries are underway, and forensic tests will be conducted to ascertain the cause of death.
Reports indicate that Dileep Shankar had been grappling with certain health issues that might have played a role in this unfortunate event.
He was recognized for his roles in various Malayalam serials, including Amma Ariyathe, Sundari, and Panchagni.
Cantonment police SHO Peajeesh Sasi stated to the media that the estimated time of death was likely at least two days ago.
He noted that the air conditioning in the hotel room was operational, and the body had not decomposed to the extent expected under normal circumstances.
The police officer mentioned that while the actor had known health issues, the precise cause of death would be determined following the post-mortem examination.
Some reports have suggested that Dileep Shankar was in Kerala’s capital for the filming of the television series Panchagni.
The show's director reportedly informed police that the actor was suffering from a serious illness, though specifics about the ailment were not immediately available. Dileep Shankar was undergoing treatment for this condition.
