Tragic Incident in Visakhapatnam: Couple Jumps from Third Floor

Visakhapatnam, Dec 3 (NationPress) A couple tragically died by suicide after jumping from the third floor of a residential building in Andhra Pradesh's Visakhapatnam on Tuesday morning.
The incident took place in Akkireddy Palem within the Gajuwaka area. The victims were identified as Pilli Durga Rao (32) and Sai Sushmita (27), who was employed at a pharmaceutical company located in Hyderabad.
A police official reported that they received an alert around 5:50 a.m. regarding a couple jumping from an apartment in Sheela Nagar, specifically in Venkateshwara Colony.
Emergency responders quickly arrived on the scene and transported the bodies for an autopsy.
According to local residents, the couple had been cohabiting in a flat within the same building for approximately three months and had an argument shortly before the incident.
Investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding their deaths.
Both individuals were reported to be from Amalapuram in the Dr B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema district. Durga Rao was residing on the third floor of the building, where Sushmita was also living.
Neighbors revealed that Durga Rao operated a food catering service, with one stating he was not married and had limited knowledge about Sushmita.
A security guard from the apartment complex noted that the couple had been living together, and the motives behind their drastic decision are still under investigation.
It is believed that Durga Rao and Sushmita were in love, but their families opposed their marriage, which may have influenced their tragic choice.
The police have opened a case and are conducting a thorough investigation. They found the door to Durga Rao's flat ajar.
Law enforcement is collecting evidence from both the apartment and the building, and they are checking if the incident was recorded on nearby CCTV cameras.
The couple hailed from the same village in the Konaseema district. Durga Rao had moved to Visakhapatnam for work and was managing a food catering service, which he had recently leased to someone else.
The police have notified Durga Rao's family and are in the process of gathering statements from neighbors as part of their investigation.
