Samana (Punjab), May 7 (NationPress) In a heart-wrenching road mishap on Wednesday, six schoolchildren and a driver tragically lost their lives when a vehicle transporting students collided with a tipper truck near Samana in Punjab’s Patiala district, according to officials.
The students were returning home from Bhupindra International School in Patiala when the devastating incident occurred.
The car, which was carrying 14 students, was struck by a heavy soil-laden tipper truck. The force of the collision was so intense that five children died instantly, while another succumbed to injuries en route to the hospital. The vehicle's driver also lost his life in the crash.
The children, who were residents of Samana, traveled daily to the private school in Patiala—a routine that ended in this unimaginable tragedy.
Punjab Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh visited the hospital where the injured children were being treated.
In statements to the media, Dr. Singh promised that every possible medical assistance was being provided to the injured and noted that the state government would take measures to avert such accidents in the future.
