Tiruchirappalli, May 22 (NationPress) On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched more than 100 newly renovated railway stations across the nation via video conference as part of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.
Among these modernized stations is the Srirangam railway station in the Tiruchirappalli district of Tamil Nadu, which has undergone a transformation costing approximately Rs 6.77 crore.
The inauguration ceremony at Trichy was graced by the presence of MP Durai Vaiko, District Collector Pradeep Kumar, Railway DRM Anbalagan, Srirangam MLA Palaniandi, railway officials, and numerous distinguished citizens.
Local residents expressed their joy to IANS over the upgraded station, now equipped with modern facilities and amenities.
Thiruvengadam, a local, remarked: "The renovated Srirangam railway station will significantly ease the challenges faced by train commuters, enhancing their overall travel experience. The upgrade benefits not just the local community but also countless individuals from nearby areas."
He further stated: "We are thrilled to witness the transformation of the station compared to its condition five years ago. The modernized station now includes facilities like restrooms and air-conditioned waiting rooms, which will be a great advantage for passengers."
Thiruvengadam expressed his thanks to PM Modi, the Railway Minister, and the Railway Administration for the successful implementation of this project.
Muralidharan, another resident, noted: "Today marks a significant occasion for Indian Railways. PM Modi has inaugurated over 100 upgraded railway stations nationwide, and the Srirangam railway station in Trichy stands out among them.
