Kolkata, May 27 (NationPress) The Trinamool Congress reached out to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday, urging for a dedicated session of Parliament to deliberate on Operation Sindoor, emphasizing that the primary responsibility of any government is to be answerable to its citizens.
“We appreciate the Centre’s efforts in promoting India’s position against terrorism on a global platform. Nevertheless, the foremost duty of a government is to remain accountable to its populace. In this regard, our Parliamentary Party convened at the Central Hall and has sent a request to PM @narendramodi for a special session of Parliament,” stated the Trinamool.
Earlier this month, the Chief Minister of West Bengal made a similar appeal for a special parliamentary session following the return of members from multi-party delegations currently visiting various global capitals to clarify India’s stance amidst the recent conflict with Pakistan related to Operation Sindoor.
The Chief Minister reaffirmed her party’s commitment to support any decisions made by the Union government in the interests of national security.
In response, West Bengal's Leader of the Opposition, Suvendu Adhikari, called for a special session of the state assembly to address the communal violence and riot-like conditions in the minority-dominated Murshidabad.
“Why not hold a special session of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly to discuss and tackle the alarming anti-Hindu communal violence in Murshidabad district?” questioned Adhikari.
On Monday, West Bengal Speaker Biman Bandopadhya announced that a motion to discuss Operation Sindoor will be introduced in the Assembly during its monsoon session, commencing June 9.
