Kolkata, Dec 6 (NationPress) Trinamool Congress and the party's suspended legislator from the Bharat constituency, Humayun Kabir, are set to host two opposing events today to commemorate the demolition of the contentious structure in Ayodhya on December 6, 1992.
On one side, Trinamool Congress will hold its annual 'Sampriti Diwas (Harmony Day)' celebration at Esplanade in Central Kolkata, organized by the youth and student factions of the party, featuring the attendance of senior party officials.
“In addition to promoting communal harmony, our leaders will shed light on the difficulties faced by the people in West Bengal due to the ongoing chaotic Special Intensive Revision process in the state,” stated a member of the state cabinet.
Conversely, the spotlight will also be on the foundation stone laying ceremony for the 'Babri Mosque' at Beldanga in Murshidabad district, spearheaded by Kabir.
Despite his suspension from the party earlier this week, Kabir is resolute in proceeding with the event.
The stone-laying ceremony will take place under strict security from both state police and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), as mandated by a division bench of the Calcutta High Court on Friday.
Reports from Beldanga indicate that thousands of attendees have begun arriving at the venue since Friday night.
Kabir himself has been present at the site multiple times since Friday evening, overseeing the preparations.
“Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee believes she holds the monopoly on correctness, overlooking the fact that the Muslim community has been pivotal to her party's success since 2011. The Muslims will dismantle her arrogance in the upcoming 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections,” Kabir declared on Saturday morning.
The leader of the opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, has suggested that Kabir's suspension and the event are part of a “pre-planned match” between Mamata Banerjee and her rebellious legislator.
Meanwhile, Trinamool Congress representatives allege that the BJP is behind Kabir's actions.
