Agartala, March 6 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Tripura, Manik Saha, stated on Friday that the opposition party, CPI-M, is not only wishing for a rift within the BJP but is also fantasizing about displacing the party to reinstate a Left Front government.

Saha emphasized that the current administration is dedicated to the public welfare while upholding a transparent governance structure.

“Tripura, despite its small size, is progressing positively on all fronts, having secured 347 national awards. Yet, the opposition seems blind to the genuine advancements occurring in the state,” he remarked while participating in the ‘Yuva Shankhanad’ event organized by the BJP at Dharmanagar in North Tripura.

During the event, Saha paid tribute to the late Speaker of the Tripura Legislative Assembly, Biswa Bandhu Sen, expressing that his passing represents a significant loss.

Sen, who served as an Assembly member from Dharmanagar, passed away on December 26 of the previous year.

“His sudden death is indeed an irreparable loss for us. We are committed to fulfilling his unfinished goals. He was also linked to the art of jatra (traditional folk theater) and had aspirations for the comprehensive development of Dharmanagar. We aim to bring that aspiration to fruition through our actions,” he stated.

Saha remarked that, thanks to the initiatives of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, tranquility has been restored in Tripura.

“Previously, traveling to Agartala required a security escort. Now, peace prevails in Tripura and throughout the entire Northeast. While the opposition leaders are preoccupied with their hopes regarding the BJP, we are tirelessly working from dawn until midnight to serve the public. They are merely speculating about potential disputes within the BJP, dreaming of ousting it to revive a Left Front government,” he added.

The Chief Minister accused the opposition of collaborating with individuals they had previously engaged in severe conflicts involving violence, terrorism, and other criminal activities.

“Their primary focus seems to be finding ways to regain power rather than genuinely serving the community,” he remarked.

Saha highlighted that Tripura has achieved 347 national awards and has excelled in deregulation and compliance across India.

“For these accomplishments, Prime Minister Modi personally commended Tripura during a Chief Secretaries meeting in Delhi, urging larger states to take cues from our progress. Tripura, despite its small stature, is on the right track,” he added.

He pointed out that Tripura has recently been recognized as the third fully literate state in India, following Mizoram and Goa.

Stressing the significance of women’s development, the Chief Minister noted that women constitute nearly 50% of the population.

“Without the empowerment of women, state or national development is unattainable. This is why the Prime Minister prioritizes women's advancement, and our government is aligning its efforts accordingly,” he stated.

Saha further revealed that Tripura ranks second among northeastern states regarding Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) and per capita income.

“NITI Aayog has recognized Tripura as a front-runner state. The state is advancing positively across all metrics. Although the opposition refuses to acknowledge this progress, the Bharatiya Janata Party is committed to development. Development is essential. Our government is focused on the welfare of the populace while ensuring transparency,” he concluded.

The event was attended by BJP state president and MP Rajib Bhattacharjee, Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Tinku Roy, North District Zilla Sabhadhipati Aparna Nath, MLAs Binay Bhushan Das and Jadav Lal Nath, Yuva Morcha state president Sushanta Deb, alongside other dignitaries.
