Tripura CM Manik Saha flags ₹2.88 crore Bishalgarh office, ₹1,000 crore projects
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Saturday, 24 October inaugurated the newly constructed office building of the Bishalgarh Municipal Council in Sepahijala district, reaffirming the state government's commitment to delivering public services to every section of society, including those at the grassroots level. The building was constructed at a cost of ₹2.88 crore.
Key Developments at Bishalgarh
At the inauguration, Chief Minister Saha virtually launched several civic infrastructure projects under the RCC Development Project in the Bishalgarh Municipal Council area, covering the construction of cement concrete roads, drains, and allied amenities. He also presided over the distribution of protective equipment to 100 sanitation workers serving the municipal area, underlining the government's focus on occupational safety for frontline civic personnel.
Notably, an eco-friendly electric furnace is reportedly under construction in the Bishalgarh Municipal Council area, with completion expected shortly — an initiative described as an addition to the region's civic infrastructure.
₹1,000 Crore in Development Projects This Year
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Saha said that foundation stones had been laid for development projects worth approximately ₹1,000 crore across the state during the current financial year so far. He invoked Prime Minister Narendra Modi's guiding principle, stating: 'Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his mantra of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, the state government is working to improve the quality of life and livelihoods of the last person in society and ensure the delivery of civic services.'
Healthcare Expansion Across Tripura
The Chief Minister highlighted a range of healthcare infrastructure upgrades rolled out across Tripura. Homeopathic and Ayurvedic medical colleges have been established to broaden access to multiple systems of medicine, while trauma care centres have been introduced in every district hospital in the state to ensure timely emergency treatment.
'Due to the development of the healthcare system in the state, it has now become possible to perform kidney transplants within Tripura,' Saha said, pointing to the expansion of specialised medical services that previously required patients to travel outside the state.
Health Quality Recognitions
The event also saw significant public health milestones. Seven Ayushman Arogya Mandirs in the Bishalgarh subdivision were awarded National Quality Assurance Certificates for meeting prescribed quality standards. Additionally, nine Gram Panchayats in Bishalgarh received certificates recognising them as TB-free Gram Panchayats — a recognition that forms part of the broader national push to eliminate tuberculosis.
What This Signals for Tripura's Governance
The programme brought together elected representatives, district administration officials, and local civic authorities, reflecting a coordinated push across administrative tiers. This comes amid Tripura's ongoing efforts to improve its Human Development Index ranking among northeastern states. The convergence of municipal infrastructure, healthcare upgrades, and sanitation worker welfare at a single event underscores the state government's strategy of bundling visible service delivery with grassroots outreach ahead of continued political consolidation in the region.
