Agartala, Jan 26 (NationPress) Tripura Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu announced on Sunday that the state has successfully addressed the long-standing insurgency challenges last year.

During the Republic Day celebrations at the Assam Rifles ground, the Governor highlighted the signing of a Memorandum of Settlement on September 5 last year between the Union and Tripura governments with the National Liberation Front of Tripura and the All-Tripura Tiger Force, effectively disbanding these groups and fostering peace.

He noted that a significant milestone was achieved with the signing of a historic tripartite agreement on March 2, 2024, involving the government of India, the Tripura government, and the Tipra Motha Party, aimed at addressing issues concerning the indigenous population of Tripura.

Governor Reddy Nallu pointed out that the state faced devastating floods and landslides in August last year due to record rainfall, resulting in the loss of 38 lives. Approximately 3.7 lakh individuals were evacuated during the monsoon floods. He mentioned that under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, Rs 32.93 crore was allocated, while Rs 790.53 crore was transferred to the bank accounts of 2.76 lakh farmers through PM-KISAN.

In addition, the state has brought 1,878 hectares under oil palm cultivation as part of the National Mission for Edible Oils, benefiting 1,861 farmers.

He announced that the state government has incorporated 27 new schools into the Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India initiative for the year 2024-25, with a strong focus on infrastructure development.

Reddy Nallu informed the audience that the Union government has allocated Rs 2,800 crore for significant road projects in Tripura, which include the Agartala Eastern Bypass and the Amtali to Tripura Sundari Temple road, enhancing connectivity across the region.

“The state government has achieved a remarkable feat by winning 7 awards under the National Panchayat Awards-2024, and there are plans to establish 111 additional model villages under the Chief Minister Model Village Scheme,” he stated.

The Governor also mentioned the ongoing implementation of the North Eastern Regional Power System Improvement Project, supported by a World Bank investment of Rs 1,800 crore, aimed at developing a robust power transmission network in the state.

To enhance tourism in Tripura, several projects have been launched to increase the state’s attractiveness to tourists, he added.

Reddy Nallu emphasized the commendable progress made by the Tripura government in improving law and order in the state.

The state government has begun the recruitment process for 916 constables and 218 sub-inspectors, creating employment opportunities for unemployed youth. Additionally, the enlistment of 6,067 Special Executives in the Police Department is underway.

The Governor reiterated the goal of transforming Tripura into a drug-free and clean state.

The 76th Republic Day was commemorated across Tripura with various functions and events.
