Agartala, Jan 26 (NationPress) Tripura Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu announced on Sunday that the state has effectively addressed its long-standing insurgency issues last year.

During the Republic Day celebration at the Assam Rifles ground, the Governor highlighted that on September 5 of the previous year, a significant Memorandum of Settlement was executed between the Union and Tripura governments with the National Liberation Front of Tripura and the All-Tripura Tiger Force, leading to the disbanding of these groups and fostering peace.

He further mentioned a historic step towards peace and development in Tripura was taken with the signing of a tripartite agreement on March 2, 2024, involving the government of India, the Tripura government, and the Tipra Motha Party.

“This agreement aims to tackle issues pertinent to the indigenous people of Tripura,” the Governor emphasized.

Reddy Nallu also discussed the severe challenges faced by the state, including devastating floods and landslides in August, which resulted in 38 fatalities and necessitated the evacuation of approximately 3.7 lakh people.

He noted that under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, a total of Rs 32.93 crore was contributed, while Rs 790.53 crore was transferred to 2.76 lakh farmers through PM-KISAN.

In agricultural advancements, 1,878 hectares have been earmarked for oil palm cultivation under the National Mission for Edible Oils, benefiting 1,861 farmers.

The Governor announced the inclusion of 27 additional schools under the Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India initiative for the year 2024-25, prioritizing infrastructure development.

He revealed that the Union government has allocated Rs 2,800 crore for crucial road projects in Tripura, such as the Agartala Eastern Bypass and the Amtali to Tripura Sundari Temple road, enhancing connectivity throughout the state.

“The state government achieved a remarkable milestone by winning 7 awards at the National Panchayat Awards-2024. Plans are underway to establish 111 additional model villages under the Chief Minister Model Village Scheme,” he stated.

Additionally, the Governor mentioned the “North Eastern Regional Power System Improvement Project”, a World Bank-funded initiative with an investment of Rs 1,800 crore aimed at creating a robust power transmission network.

To enhance tourism, the state government has unveiled various projects designed to improve the state’s attractiveness to visitors.

Reddy Nallu commended the state for achieving significant progress in maintaining a stable law and order situation.

The recruitment process for 916 constables and 218 sub-inspectors has commenced, providing employment opportunities for the youth, along with the enlistment of 6,067 Special Executives in the Police Department.

The Governor reiterated the vision of making Tripura a drug-free and clean state.

The 76th Republic Day was commemorated across Tripura with numerous celebrations and events.
