Patna, March 14 (NationPress) - In a tragic series of events, two individuals lost their lives in distinct train accidents along the Patna–Gaya railway route in Jehanabad district on Saturday.
The occurrences took place in proximity to Jehanabad Court Halt and Makhdumpur railway station, leading local authorities to initiate investigations.
During the first incident, 50-year-old Dilip Kumar Sharma, hailing from Shahbazpur village in Gaya district, was fatally struck by a train near Jehanabad Court Halt.
Sharma had been residing with his family in the Shanti Niwas area of Jehanabad, where he was involved in constructing a house near the court station.
Family members reported that on Saturday morning, a snake appeared at the construction site, causing panic among the workers.
In his fright, Sharma allegedly dashed towards the railway tracks while engaged in a conversation on his mobile phone.
At that moment, a MEMU passenger train passed by and collided with him.
The collision resulted in severe injuries, including the severing of one of his arms and critical head trauma, leading to his immediate death.
Authorities from the Sadar police station responded promptly after being alerted and commenced an investigation.
The remains were subsequently sent for a post-mortem examination.
As news of Sharma's death spread, family members and locals gathered at Sadar Hospital, leading to emotional scenes as relatives expressed their grief.
In a separate incident on the same rail line, an unidentified young man was killed after being struck by a train near Makhdumpur railway station.
The victim is estimated to be around 30 years old, dressed in a sky-blue full-sleeved shirt and blue trousers at the time of the accident.
The Government Railway Police (GRP) are overseeing this case.
GRP in-charge Deepnarayan Yadav stated that the body will be preserved in the mortuary for 72 hours post-mortem to facilitate identification.
Photographs of the deceased have been distributed on social media to assist in locating his family.
Investigations into both incidents are ongoing.
