Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Patna, March 10 (NationPress) Two siblings tragically lost their lives after being struck by a train in heavy fog near Barej village within the Mohania police station jurisdiction of Bihar's Kaimur district on Tuesday morning, as reported by officials.
The fatal incident transpired around 7 a.m. on the Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) track, situated between Bhabua Road and Muthani railway stations on the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay-Gaya rail line.
The victims, identified as Prince Kumar (24) and Rohit Kumar (22), were the sons of Madan Sah and lived in Barej village.
Family members revealed that the brothers had departed early in the morning to tend to their fields located on the opposite side of the railway track. With farmland on one side and the village on the other, it is common for locals to cross the tracks to reach their agricultural lands.
The victims' brother, Rajkumar, stated that the thick fog severely hampered visibility, making it impossible for them to detect the approaching train.
“They were walking to their fields in the morning. The fog obscured their view, and they were struck by the train,” he explained.
This incident left the railway tracks stained with blood and sparked considerable distress and sorrow among family members and local residents.
In the aftermath, community members voiced their frustration over the lack of secure crossing options near the railway line. Villagers called on authorities to construct an underpass or overbridge near Barej village to avert future tragedies.
They highlighted that numerous villagers cross the tracks daily to reach their fields, endangering their lives.
Upon receiving alerts about the incident, teams from the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and local police promptly arrived at the scene.
RPF constable S.K. Pandey confirmed the fatalities, stating, “We were informed that two individuals had been killed after being struck by a train near Barej village. Upon arrival, we discovered that the victims were brothers. Following the completion of necessary procedures, the bodies will be sent to Bhabua Sadar Hospital for post-mortem examinations.”
