The unfortunate event took place along the Bettiah–Narkatiaganj railway line, specifically between Gulab Nagar railway crossing and Sathi railway station, close to railway pillar number 234/31.

According to Sathi railway station superintendent Santosh Kumar, the Amrit Bharat Express was en route from Muzaffarpur to Narkatiaganj while a military train was simultaneously approaching on a parallel track from Narkatiaganj toward Muzaffarpur.

“The two boys were situated near the railway tracks, engaged in making a video reel on their mobile devices. As the trains approached from both directions, they panicked and were unable to react swiftly. Consequently, both were struck by the Amrit Bharat Express,” stated Santosh Kumar.

Reports indicate that both teenagers died instantly.

In the aftermath of the incident, a significant crowd of local residents congregated at the scene, resulting in chaos and distress.

The deceased were identified as Salman Alam (16) from Dharmpur Sathi village, and Alamgir Alam (16) from Bhedihari village, located under the jurisdiction of Purushottampur police station.

Railway officials have notified the Government Railway Police (GRP) in Bettiah, and an investigation is currently underway.

“Upon receiving details about the incident, we promptly informed the GRP. A comprehensive investigation is ongoing. The bodies have been returned to their families, and legal proceedings are being initiated,” added Santosh Kumar.

“We advise the public to refrain from approaching railway tracks, particularly during morning and evening hours due to reduced visibility caused by winter fog,” he concluded.
