Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Ahmedabad, March 4 (NationPress) Two individuals tragically lost their lives near a railway track in the Naranpura locality of Ahmedabad after being hit by a train during the night, according to police reports on Wednesday.
The remains were found around 11 a.m. adjacent to the railway track near the Adarshnagar Police Chowki.
One of the deceased has been identified as Satyajit Shrimali (50), a resident of Naranpura. The identity of the second victim is still unknown, but he is estimated to be around 32 years old.
Local residents notified the authorities after spotting the bodies near the railway crossing.
Officials from the local police precinct and the Government Railway Police (GRP) arrived at the scene to commence an investigation.
Inspector Vimal Dangar of Vadaj Police Station indicated that initial findings imply the tragic event took place during the night.
“At first glance, it seems the incident occurred overnight. The bodies were located around 11 a.m.,” he relayed to IANS.
However, the precise circumstances surrounding how the two men were struck by the train remain uncertain.
“Currently, we are investigating various scenarios, including the possibilities of suicide, accident, and more. Every angle is being thoroughly examined,” Inspector Dangar remarked.
Separate cases of accidental death have been filed as part of the inquiry.
The bodies have been sent for post-mortem analysis to determine the exact cause of death.
Efforts are ongoing to identify the second victim and connect with his family.
Police anticipate that more information will surface once the post-mortem results are available and the initial phase of the investigation concludes.
In a related incident last month, two men were killed and another severely injured when a high-speed Vande Bharat Express collided with them near a level crossing in Rajkot district.
This incident occurred at the Maldhari level crossing near Gondal Chowkdi, between the Bhaktinagar and Ribda railway stations in the Bhavnagar division, while the train was on its scheduled route.
Reports indicate that three men were on the railway track when the train struck them.
