New Delhi, Sep 17 (NationPress) Two individuals alleged to have fired shots at Bollywood star Disha Patani’s ancestral home in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, were fatally shot during a police encounter in Ghaziabad on Wednesday, according to officials.
The suspects, named Ravindra from Rohtak and Arun from Sonipat, were associated with a notorious transnational gang led by the Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar.
A member of the Delhi Police was injured in the course of the operation.
This incident traces back to the early hours of September 12, when gunfire erupted around 3:45 AM at Patani’s family residence located in the Civil Lines area of Bareilly.
At the time, the actor’s father, retired Deputy Superintendent of Police Jagdish Singh Patani, along with her mother and sister Khushbu, were present inside the house.
No injuries were reported, but the gunfire sent shockwaves through the otherwise peaceful neighborhood. Shortly after the attack, Goldy Brar took to social media to claim responsibility, with screenshots of his post rapidly circulating.
In his message, Brar accused Disha Patani and her sister of making derogatory comments about religious figures Sant Premanand Maharaj and Aniruddhacharya, asserting that the shooting was an act of retaliation.
The post included direct threats and referenced several of his associates.
Following intelligence reports, a joint operation by the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force’s Noida unit and the Delhi Police's Crime Intelligence Unit led to the suspects being tracked down in Ghaziabad.
Officials reported that the duo opened fire as the team attempted to apprehend them. In the ensuing gunfight, both suspects suffered severe injuries.
They were disarmed and transported to the hospital, where they were subsequently pronounced dead. Reports confirmed that a Delhi Police officer was injured during the confrontation but is currently stable.
This encounter is viewed as a crucial advancement in dismantling Brar’s network, which has been striving to extend its influence in Uttar Pradesh.
As a precautionary measure, security at Patani’s Bareilly residence has been increased, and investigations into broader gang affiliations are ongoing.
