Hyderabad, March 12 (NationPress) The Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police have detained two female journalists from a news channel for disseminating a video featuring derogatory and abusive statements directed at Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.
Pogadadanda Revathi, Managing Director of Pulse News, and Bandi Sandhya (also known as Thanvi Yadav), a reporter for Pulse News, were charged alongside a user of the 'X' platform under a complaint filed by the state secretary of the Congress social media cell.
They face charges under Section 67 (publication or transmission of obscene material in electronic form) of the Information Technology Act, as well as Sections 111 (organised crime), 61(2) (criminal conspiracy), 353(2) (spreading false information or rumors that incite hatred or ill will between groups), and 352 (intentionally insulting someone to provoke a breach of peace) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The complainant reported encountering an abusive video on the 'X' account 'NippuKodi', which featured a representative from Pulse TV interviewing an unidentified person in a provocative manner.
During the interview, the individual made derogatory and abusive remarks about Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, indicating a clear intention by the Pulse TV channel to discredit and propagate false information.
The complainant asserted that such posts are extremely provocative and could potentially incite societal divisions, which might lead to law and order disturbances.
As per police records, Revathi was previously involved in another case for verbally assaulting a Dalit during a live broadcast, resulting in her arrest and subsequent bail.
Additionally, another case was filed against her last year for making false allegations against the Telangana State Power Distribution Company Limited.
