Agartala, Feb 7 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Tripura, Manik Saha, emphasized on Saturday that the Union Budget 2026–27, unveiled by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in Parliament, prioritizes growth across various sectors such as education, health, defence, and infrastructure.
During the ‘Budget Yuva Conference’ hosted by the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Pradesh Yuva Morcha, Saha remarked that the budget embodies the development-focused vision of PM Modi and highlights the duty of every citizen to actively engage in nation-building.
Saha pointed out that Sitharaman stands out as the first woman Finance Minister to present the Union Budget for a remarkable nine consecutive years.
“This budget encapsulates the Prime Minister’s dream of a Viksit Bharat by 2047. Every sector has been meticulously addressed. With this presentation, the Union Budget has been delivered approximately 80 times. The separate presentations of the Railway Budget and the General Budget were unified after Narendra Modi took office as Prime Minister,” he explained.
The Chief Minister clarified that the main purpose of the budget is to delineate the country’s revenue and expenditures while spotlighting priority areas for development.
“The budget steers growth in critical sectors such as infrastructure and health, with adequate financial provisions. This year, about 15 percent of the overall budget is earmarked for the defence sector,” Saha noted.
By focusing on four significant demographics — youth, farmers, women, and the poor — the Chief Minister asserted that inclusive growth for these groups would diminish caste-based discrepancies.
“Considering these four groups, numerous provisions have been incorporated in this year’s budget. With an aim towards job creation for youth, the budget anticipates generating 3.5 crore jobs through the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rojgar Yojana, ” he stated.
Additionally, Saha noted that the budget also emphasizes the welfare of farmers by ensuring fair prices for their produce and bolstering agricultural infrastructure.
The conference was attended by BJP State President and MP Rajib Bhattacharjee, former MP Rebati Tripura, State Yuva Morcha President and MLA Sushanta Deb, along with other party leaders and members.
