Union Minister Emphasizes Approval of 10 Lakh Pending Houses This January

New Delhi, Jan 1 (NationPress) The government will prioritize the approval of 10 lakh pending houses this month, as part of its goals established for the financial year 2024-25. The initial installment will also be disbursed to the beneficiaries, stated Union Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Wednesday.

Chouhan emphasized that by efficiently executing all schemes under the Rural Development Ministry in a timely manner, the vision of creating poverty-free villages across the nation can be realized.

“Moving forward, we will set monthly targets for the ministry's activities and strive to meet those benchmarks,” he remarked while assessing various initiatives of his ministry on this New Year in the national capital.

This initiative is expected to significantly contribute to fulfilling Prime Minister Narendra Modi's aspiration of a poverty-free India.

In addition, during the review of programs such as MNREGA, PMGSY, PM-Awas, NRLM, DAY-NRLM, NSAP, and Disha, Chouhan urged department officials to collaborate towards meeting the outlined objectives within the upcoming month.

He pointed out that once a target is established, the route to achieving it becomes clearer.

The Rural Development Ministry has been making commendable progress in reaching various targets, and “we will exert ourselves to meet the established goals,” affirmed the minister.

The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin has been extended for an additional five years, aiming to construct 2 crore extra houses during the financial period 2024-29.

Significant amendments have also been made to the eligibility criteria in the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, allowing more eligible families to benefit from this scheme and aiding in the objective of housing for all.

There has been a consistent increase in the annual budget allocated for the housing scheme, with a record allocation of Rs 54,500 crore for the financial year 2024-25.

Out of the target of 42 lakh units under the housing initiative, 31.65 lakh houses have been sanctioned, and 4.19 lakh houses have been completed from June to December 2024, which includes 71,000 houses under the PM Janman scheme.
