Over 1 lakh (100,000) students across the Devipatan Division of Uttar Pradesh have received study tables under the state government's 'Shiksha Ki Udaan' (Flight of Education) campaign, with many beneficiaries expressing heartfelt gratitude to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath through letters, posters, and drawings. The initiative, targeting top-performing students in government schools, has been fully achieved across four districts, according to Divisional Commissioner Durga Shakti Nagpal.

Campaign Targets Met Across Four Districts

Divisional Commissioner Durga Shakti Nagpal confirmed that the target of distributing one lakh study tables across four districts of Devipatan Division has been met in its entirety. The highest number of tables — 34,260 — were distributed in Bahraich, followed by 27,650 in Gonda, 26,984 in Balrampur, and 11,106 in Shravasti. The campaign specifically targeted meritorious students enrolled in government schools, primarily from rural backgrounds.

According to Commissioner Nagpal, the initiative was designed to foster a culture of disciplined study at home while encouraging academic excellence outside the classroom. By creating a dedicated personal study space, the programme seeks to bridge the gap between school-based learning and home-based revision — a challenge frequently cited in studies on rural education outcomes in India.

Students Express Gratitude in Unique Ways

Swati, a recipient of the study table, penned a letter to Chief Minister Adityanath describing her joy at receiving the table, adding that she now uses it every day for her studies. She decorated the letter with flowers and drew a picture of the table, a book, and a pencil.

Saba, a Class 6 student, wrote that she previously faced inconvenience while studying at home, but the new table has made her study routine significantly easier. Nuzhat Fatima, a Class 7 student, prepared a 'letter of gratitude' on blue chart paper, writing that the table has increased her interest in studies and enabled her to concentrate better than before. She also drew a coloured-pencil sketch of a female student at her desk.

The appreciation extended beyond written letters. Several children prepared posters — one depicted a large portrait of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath flanked by the slogans 'Beti Bachao' (Save the Girl Child) and 'Beti Padhao' (Educate the Girl Child). Another poster illustrated a student receiving a table at the school gate, with the caption: 'If the daughter studies, she will progress and bring glory to Uttar Pradesh.'

What 'Shiksha Ki Udaan' Aims to Achieve

The 'Shiksha Ki Udaan' campaign is framed as a structural intervention to improve learning outcomes at the household level, particularly for girl students in rural Uttar Pradesh.
