Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Lucknow, Feb 16 (NationPress) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stated on Monday that the state has transitioned from a culture of curfews to a regime of law, establishing itself as a model for investment, innovation, and transparency.
During a discussion regarding the Motion of Thanks to the Governor's Address, Chief Minister Adityanath remarked that Uttar Pradesh is now advancing as a revenue-surplus state, having firmly positioned itself as a land of transformation over the past eight to eight and a half years.
He noted that the BJP-led state government has centered its development around a new confluence of Technology, Trust, and Transformation, which has become the bedrock of the state's progress, transparency, and public trust.
The Chief Minister criticized the Opposition for their indecent and disrespectful conduct towards Governor Anandiben Patel, asserting, "No Curfew, No Danga, UP mein sab Changa."
"The Governor serves as the constitutional head of the state. Despite this, the Opposition displayed disrespectful behavior towards her. This not only undermines democracy but also disrespects all pivotal figures in the constitutional framework," he expressed.
He added that the Governor, as an experienced statesperson, is guiding and leading everyone in her capacity as the constitutional head, but the Opposition's treatment of her reveals the true mindset of the Samajwadi Party (SP) and their negative perspective.
He remarked that Uttar Pradesh has undergone significant change, which should have occurred long ago, but previous state governments, driven by narrow interests, jeopardized the future of the state and its 20 crore citizens, leading to an identity crisis.
"The state had become synonymous with lawlessness and crime, with curfews defining its identity. Once a land of India's eternal values, Uttar Pradesh had descended into chaos. Now, thanks to the clear policies, pure intentions, and commitment to good governance from the Double-Engine government, Uttar Pradesh has managed to transform obstacles into breakthroughs for the national economy," he said.
Diving deeper into the SP-era governance, Chief Minister Adityanath stated: "Before 2017, criminals and mafias, shielded by those in power, were operating parallel governments in the state. Extortion and illegal levies had become the fate of Uttar Pradesh. The 'One District One Mafia' phenomenon had destabilized the region. Law was monopolized by a few, and curfews and riots were commonplace."
"Post-2017, the once riot-prone Uttar Pradesh has evolved into a 'Celebration State'. The rule of law has been firmly established in the region," he conveyed to the Assembly House.
Furthermore, he mentioned that with a robust law and order system, the state has transformed from a 'Fear Zone' to a 'Faith Zone'.
"The current atmosphere is characterized by trust, not fear. People are coming to the state with confidence in its security and governance. The 'Curfew Culture' has been supplanted by a 'Zero Tolerance Culture', granting Uttar Pradesh a revitalized identity. Instead of riots, a prospering festive and technology-driven economy has emerged. The state, once overwhelmed by fear due to riots and disorder, now signifies an environment of faith and celebration," the Chief Minister concluded.
