Lucknow, Feb 16 (NationPress) In a significant statement on Monday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath proclaimed that the state has transitioned from a culture of curfews to embracing the rule of law, thereby establishing itself as a beacon for investment, innovation, and transparency.
During the discussion on the Motion of Thanks to the Governor's Address, Adityanath highlighted that Uttar Pradesh is on the path to becoming a revenue-surplus state, crediting this transformation to the past eight to 8.5 years of development initiatives.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the BJP-led state government has prioritized a new synergy of “Technology, Trust, and Transformation”, which now serves as the bedrock for the state's advancements, transparency, and public confidence.
He condemned the Opposition's indecent and disrespectful conduct towards Governor Anandiben Patel, asserting, “No Curfew, No Danga, UP mein sab Changa.”
According to Adityanath, the Governor, as the constitutional head of the state, deserves respect, and the Opposition's behavior undermines democracy and disrespects all pivotal figures in the constitutional framework.
The Chief Minister further remarked that Governor Patel, with her extensive experience, is guiding the state, yet the Opposition's actions reveal the true attitudes of the Samajwadi Party (SP) and their negative outlook.
He pointed out that Uttar Pradesh has undergone substantial change, which should have occurred much earlier, but previous governments, driven by narrow interests, jeopardized the future of the state and its 20 crore citizens, leading to an identity crisis.
“The state had become synonymous with lawlessness, disorder, and crime, with curfews defining its identity. Uttar Pradesh, once celebrated as the land of India’s eternal values, had descended into chaos. Through a clear policy, genuine intent, and a commitment to good governance, the Double-Engine government has transformed obstacles into opportunities for the nation's economy,” he stated.
Further criticizing the SP era, Adityanath said, “Before 2017, criminals and mafias, shielded by those in power, operated parallel governments in the state. Extortion and illegal taxation were rampant. The ‘One District One Mafia’ phenomenon had destabilized the state. Law became the privilege of a select few, and curfews and riots were commonplace.”
“Since 2017, the riot-plagued UP has evolved into a ‘Celebration State’. The rule of law has now been firmly established within the state,” he told the Assembly House.
He concluded by stating that with a strong law and order framework, the state has transitioned from a “Fear Zone” to a “Faith Zone”.
“Today, the atmosphere is one of trust rather than fear. Citizens are arriving in the state with confidence in its safety and governance. The ‘Curfew Culture’ has been supplanted by a ‘Zero Tolerance Culture’, granting Uttar Pradesh a fresh identity. Instead of riots, a rapidly developing festive and temple-technology economy has emerged. The state, once enveloped by fear due to violence and disorder, now reflects an environment of faith and celebration,” remarked the Chief Minister.
