New Delhi, Feb 9 (NationPress) Union Minister of Electronics and IT, Ashwini Vaishnaw, met with the US Ambassador to India, Sergio Gor, on Tuesday and expressed his anticipation for robust involvement from the US at the forthcoming ‘AI Impact Summit 2026’.
The ‘India AI Impact Summit 2026’, scheduled from February 16-20, is garnering an outstanding response globally, positioning itself as the largest AI summit to date.
“Had a productive meeting with Sergio Gor, the U.S. Ambassador to India. We discussed enhancing our strategic partnership, particularly in areas like semiconductors, electronics manufacturing, and supply chain resilience,” stated Vaishnaw in a post on X.
He added, “I am eager to see strong participation from the U.S. in the AI Impact Summit 2026.”
Earlier, Vaishnaw mentioned that top IT firms have created over 200 specialized AI models, which are slated for launch during the summit.
He also indicated that investments nearing $70 billion are currently being channeled into the AI infrastructure sector, with the potential to double by the summit's conclusion. Additionally, there are plans to enhance AI talent development by making AI infrastructure and industry-standard curricula available to 500 universities, thereby establishing a significant talent pipeline.
The minister highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent conversations with industry leaders, developers, and innovators across the AI landscape, including models, applications, and infrastructure. These discussions reflect the systematic progress of India’s AI ecosystem and a keen focus on deployment-driven solutions.
India is set to host the inaugural global AI summit in the Global South from February 16–20, 2026, at Bharat Mandapam.
The summit week will feature over 500 curated events across Bharat Mandapam and Sushma Swaraj Bhawan, facilitating parallel leader-level dialogues, exhibitions, and outcome-driven sessions.
The AI Impact Expo will showcase more than 840 exhibitors, including Country Pavilions, Ministries, State Governments, Industry, Startups, and Research Institutions, presenting AI solutions with demonstrable real-world impacts. IndiaAI will also highlight advancements in India’s foundational AI models.
