Jammu, Feb 8 (NationPress) The Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) convened on Sunday to implement a host of transformative initiatives aimed at elevating the Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine and its adjoining areas into one of India’s most dynamic and internationally recognized spiritual landmarks. This effort is also geared towards enhancing local employment opportunities, infrastructure, and community welfare.
Chaired by Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, who also holds the position of Chairman of the SMVDSB, the meeting led to several crucial resolutions.
Among the significant initiatives approved is the creation of an international museum that celebrates Maa Shakti’s spiritual legacy, a cutting-edge sound-and-light show inspired by renowned pilgrimage sites, and the production of a documentary centered around the Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine. This proposed ‘Shakti Museum,’ which will be developed in partnership with the Asian Heritage Foundation at Natali, Katra, is envisioned as a pioneering religious, educational, and cultural hub.
The Board also resolved to address staffing shortages within the Shrine Board, with recruitment efforts set to commence imminently. Additionally, coaching centers offering free NEET preparation for local youth will be established.
In compliance with National Green Tribunal mandates, the SMVDSB approved a comprehensive rehabilitation plan for service providers along the yatra track, including ponywallas.
A committee has been formed to devise strategies aimed at increasing pilgrimage attendance and enhancing the overall experience for visitors. The Board emphasized inclusive growth by prioritizing procurement from self-help groups, women, and young local entrepreneurs, thereby strengthening the regional economy.
Recognizing Katra’s enhanced global identity due to the Shrine, the Board committed to contributing to the city’s transformation. “Our goal is to make Katra clean, vibrant, and equipped with modern infrastructure for residents and millions of pilgrims,” stated the Lieutenant Governor.
The Board is also set to promote sports development across the Jammu region to nurture young talent and bolster youth health alongside spiritual advancement.
To ensure pilgrim safety, insurance coverage has been increased from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh per pilgrim. The progress of major infrastructure projects, including the widening of the yatra track and the construction of new Bhawans and temples, was reviewed with an emphasis on adhering to timelines.
All Board members and senior officials were present at the meeting.
