Ahmedabad, Feb 17 (NationPress) Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi had a meeting with Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel in Ahmedabad on Friday, where they explored avenues for enhancing investments in the state.

Referring to Gujarat as a “hub for business”, Oberoi showed enthusiasm towards attracting foreign firms and innovative technologies to the area. He commended Gujarat's economic framework and stressed the importance of elevating local businesses and partners to a global platform.

“We will provide a global platform,” he declared, underlining the possibilities for international partnerships.

Oberoi also alluded to his involvement in the forthcoming Vibrant Gujarat Summit, mentioning, “I aspire to invest in the next Vibrant Gujarat event, and if I receive an invitation from the Chief Minister, I will certainly attend.”

Gujarat has continuously shown a strong commitment to creating a business-friendly climate, evident in its performance in the Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) rankings over the years. In 2015, the state achieved the top rank with a score of 71.14 percent. By 2017, Gujarat's score rose significantly to 97.99 percent, although its ranking dropped to fifth place. In 2019, the state was positioned tenth.

To further facilitate business activities, the Gujarat government implemented the Single Window Clearance Act in 2017, aimed at simplifying the approval process for investors. In the 2020 EoDB rankings, Gujarat ascended to the second position with a feedback score of 97.77 percent, just trailing Andhra Pradesh. However, it is crucial to recognize that while Gujarat has made significant progress in enhancing its business landscape, environmental challenges persist.

For example, the Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City) project, despite luring numerous organizations, encounters challenges related to social infrastructure and regulatory frameworks, which could affect its long-term viability.
