Visakhapatnam, April 23 (NationPress) A retired banker from Visakhapatnam was among 16 tourists who lost their lives in a terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam.

J. Chandramouli, a resident of Pandurangapuram in the coastal city, was on a trip with family members.

As per reports, Chandramouli attempted to escape, but the terrorists pursued him and fatally shot him.

He reportedly begged the assailants for his life, but they showed no mercy. Chandramouli succumbed to his injuries instantly, and his body was identified three hours post-incident.

Upon receiving the news, his relatives traveled to Pahalgam.

Madhusudan Somisetty, originally from the Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh and now a resident of Bengaluru, was also among those killed.

Madhusudhan, who hailed from Kavali in Nellore district, was on vacation in Kashmir with his family and died at the scene.

Additionally, an Intelligence Bureau (IB) officer from Hyderabad was among the victims.

Manish Ranjan, a native of Bihar, was shot dead in front of his wife and children.

The IB officer, who was stationed in Hyderabad, was on a Leave Travel Concession (LTC) trip with his family.

The family, along with many other tourists, was visiting Pahalgam's Baisaran Valley, known as Mini Switzerland, when the terrorists launched their attack.

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan have all condemned the attack.

Meanwhile, the Jana Sena Party (JSP), led by Pawan Kalyan, has announced a three-day mourning period for the victims of the terror attack.

Following Pawan Kalyan's directives, the JSP's flags will be flown at half-mast at party offices.

He encouraged party members to light candles at intersections in the evening and form human chains across the state on Friday evening to denounce the terrorist act.

Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma has also expressed his condemnation of the attack.

"Deeply troubled by the news of the terrorist attack in Pahalgam (Jammu & Kashmir). This cowardly act against innocent civilians is utterly reprehensible. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families," the Governor shared on 'X' on Wednesday.
