Bhagalpur, Aug 30 (NationPress) As the Bihar Assembly elections draw near, the Election Commission of India (ECI) is initiating a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list across the state.
A meeting convened at Samiksha Bhavan in Bhagalpur was chaired by Bharat Kheda, the ECI's Special Observer for electoral rolls, with representatives from various political parties.
During the session, District Election Officer (DEO) and District Magistrate Naval Kishore Choudhary shared insights into the status of the seven Assembly constituencies in Bhagalpur.
He noted that there were originally 2,263 polling booths in the district.
Following the guideline of one booth per 1,200 voters, an additional 415 booths have been established, increasing the total to 2,678 polling stations.
The district currently boasts 11,12,155 male voters, 10,46,058 female voters, and 104 third-gender voters, culminating in a total of 21,58,317 electors.
The gender ratio is recorded at 947, with the Elector-Population (EP) ratio standing at 0.56.
Choudhary indicated that the initial voter count was 24,414,00, revised to 21,55,802 in the draft roll.
This includes 11,10,458 male, 10,45,237 female, and 107 third-gender voters.
A total of 20,544 Form-6 applications, 8,705 Form-7, and 20,172 Form-8 are currently being processed.
Special Observer Kheda commended the support from political parties, emphasizing the urgency as only three days remain for submitting claims and objections.
He stressed that no eligible voter should be left out, and no ineligible voter should remain on the list.
Kheda urged citizens to file Form-6 by September 1, particularly targeting new and young voters.
According to the timeline, Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) will verify applications by September 25, with the final electoral roll set for publication on September 30, 2025.
Kheda mentioned that EROs will undertake field verification and any orders can be appealed to the DEO.
He instructed that daily updates on received forms and objections be uploaded to the ECI website and encouraged feedback from political representatives.

The DEO also announced a special voter registration camp scheduled for August 31 from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at all polling stations in Bhagalpur.
