Chandigarh, March 23 (NationPress) In a significant achievement, the Amritsar Commissionerate Police has dismantled a cross-border drug syndicate with the capture of a female leader, Mandeep Kaur, who sporadically wore a police uniform to impersonate an officer for her illicit operations, along with three accomplices after seizing 5.2 kg of heroin from their possession, stated Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav on Sunday.

The other individuals apprehended include Alam Arora, 23, and Manmeet alias Golu, 21, both hailing from Janta Colony in Chheharta within Amritsar; along with an 18-year-old male (name withheld) from Tarn Taran.

DGP Yadav indicated that initial inquiries have suggested that the accused Mandeep Kaur, 27, was romantically involved with a person who linked her to smugglers based in Pakistan.

The ancestral home of Mandeep Kaur is situated in the border village of Khalra in Tarn Taran, located roughly two kilometers from the India-Pakistan border, he noted.

The DGP remarked that the investigation has also disclosed evidence of her occasional use of a police uniform to facilitate her operations.

Ongoing investigations aim to establish both the backward and forward connections in this case, he added.

Detailing the operation, Amritsar's Commissioner of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar mentioned that following intelligence reports about a female drug trafficker leading a drug cartel, police teams under the guidance of DCP, Investigation, Ravinder Pal Singh Sandhu and ADCP, Investigation, Navjot Singh, apprehended Mandeep Kaur and her two accomplices Alam and Manmeet from the Chheharta area in Amritsar.

Subsequently, based on the disclosures from the accused Mandeep Kaur regarding another individual's involvement, police teams also arrested him from the same location, he said.

The Commissioner of Police stated that further investigations are in progress, and additional arrests and recoveries are anticipated in the upcoming days.
