New Delhi, March 8 (NationPress) Indian chess Grandmaster R Vaishali, alongside scientists Elina Mishra and Shilpi Soni, took over Prime Minister Narendra Modi's X handle on International Women's Day, sharing empowering messages of ambition, determination, and strength.
In a post from PM Modi's account, these remarkable women expressed their enthusiasm for this unique opportunity.
"Vanakkam! I am Vaishali, and I am honored to take over our PM Thiru Narendra Modi Ji's social media channels, especially on Women's Day. Many of you might know that I play chess, and I take immense pride in representing our beloved nation in various tournaments," wrote the 23-year-old chess champion, Vaishali.
Vaishali shared insights into her chess journey, noting that she began playing the game at the tender age of six. "It has been a learning, thrilling, and rewarding journey," she reflected, emphasizing how her experiences have shaped her both as a player and as an individual.
Encouraging young women to chase their passions, Vaishali stated, "I want to convey a message to every woman out there, especially young girls -- pursue your dreams regardless of the obstacles. Your passion will fuel your success. I urge women to break barriers in any field they choose because I believe they can!"
Determined to enhance her FIDE ranking and bring even more pride to India, she credited her family and mentors for their steadfast support.
"I've been incredibly fortunate to have parents like Thiru Rameshbabu and Thirumathi Nagalakshmi, who have supported me throughout this journey. My brother, Indian Chess Grandmaster Praggnanandhaa, and my coach, Vishwanathan Anand, have been my pillars of strength," she expressed.
Vaishali also called on families to support their daughters' ambitions. "I have a message for parents and siblings -- believe in your daughters' capabilities, and they will achieve extraordinary things," she emphasized.
Joining Vaishali in taking over PM Modi's social media account, scientists Elina Mishra and Shilpi Soni encouraged women to consider careers in science and technology.
"India is a vibrant hub for science, and we invite more women to enter this field," they stated in a joint post.
"Both of us, Elina and Shilpi, are witnessing an array of opportunities emerging in our respective sectors. It was unimaginable that a field like nuclear technology would offer so many chances for women in India. Likewise, the increasing involvement of women and the private sector in the realm of space makes India an exciting place for innovation and growth! Indian women undoubtedly possess the talent, and India provides the right platform!"
Elina Mishra, from Bhubaneswar, Odisha, is affiliated with the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) in Mumbai. Her focus lies in electromagnetism, accelerator physics, and technology. She has contributed to developing magnetic and RF characterisation of Drift Tube Linac cavities for the Low Energy High-Intensity Proton Accelerator (LEHIPA).
Shilpi Soni, from Sagar, Madhya Pradesh, has extensive experience with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). Throughout her 24-year career, she has played a vital role in designing, developing, and inducting advanced RF and microwave subsystem technologies for over 35 ISRO communication and navigation missions.
Reflecting on their work, Elina and Shilpi shared, "The vast world of science and technology is both exhilarating and fulfilling. The joy we feel when our designed systems are implemented is beyond description. India's nuclear and space programs are filled with scientists like us, whom we acknowledge."
This isn’t the first occasion that PM Modi has handed over his social media accounts to female achievers. In 2020, on International Women's Day, seven women achievers took control of his social media platforms, using the opportunity to inspire others by sharing their extraordinary journeys.
