In a post on X, PM Modi stated, "We pay homage to our Nari Shakti on Women's Day! Our Government has consistently advocated for women's empowerment, evident in our schemes and initiatives."
"As promised, my social media accounts will today be managed by women who are excelling in diverse arenas!" he added.
In a video message, the Prime Minister reaffirmed that Indian traditions have always accorded the utmost respect and dignity to women.
He pointed out that nations and communities that offer women enhanced opportunities for growth will experience unprecedented progress.
"Today marks an era of women-led development in India," he declared, noting that government policies and regulations are now being crafted with a keen focus on benefitting women.
Furthermore, he asserted that the 'Nari Shakti' of the nation is a crucial pillar supporting India's vision for a 'Viksit Bharat' (Developed India).
This social media initiative was initially revealed by PM Modi last month during his 'Mann Ki Baat' broadcast, where he shared his intention to allow inspiring women from all over the country to take over his social media platforms.
The initiative seeks to provide these women a stage to present their stories, accomplishments, and experiences, motivating more women to step up and contribute to the progress of the nation. He encouraged women from every sector to join in this special initiative.
PM Modi further recognized that International Women's Day is a significant occasion to honor India's 'Nari Shakti' and acknowledge their priceless role in shaping the nation's history, present, and future.
"Respect for daughters has always been paramount in our culture. The strength of women has been pivotal in the Independence movement and in framing our Constitution," he noted.
In addition to this digital initiative, the Prime Minister is currently in Gujarat's Navsari celebrating International Women's Day with 'Lakhpati Didis.'
He will participate in the 'Lakhpati Didi Sammelan' at Vansi-Borsi, where he plans to distribute over Rs 450 crore in financial support to more than 2.5 lakh women from over 25,000 Self-Help Groups throughout the state.
During this event, PM Modi will engage with ten selected Lakhpati Didis and honor five of them with certificates, further solidifying the government's dedication to economically empowering women.
