New Delhi, Dec 28 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that the world is observing India with great expectations, primarily because of the nation's youth, who are propelling advancements in science, technology, and digital innovation while preserving India's cultural heritage.
In the 129th episode of his monthly radio show 'Mann Ki Baat', Modi expressed, "Currently, the world is focusing on India with immense hope. The major reason for this optimism is our youth. Our achievements in science, innovations, and technological progress have garnered admiration from nations globally."
He emphasized that India's youth have always been passionate about innovation and remain socially conscious.
Regarding platforms for young individuals to share their ideas, he mentioned, "Many ask how they can present their ideas to me? The answer to this curiosity is the 'Viksit Bharat Young Leaders' Dialogue'. Last year marked the inception of this event, with the second edition scheduled for January 12, coinciding with National Youth Day, which celebrates the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. I will be part of this event as well."
During this dialogue, youth will discuss significant topics such as innovation, fitness, startups, and agriculture.
Modi expressed contentment over the increasing engagement of young people in this initiative.
"Recently, a pitch competition related to this event attracted participation from over 50 lakh youth. An essay contest was also conducted, allowing students to express their thoughts on various subjects. Tamil Nadu secured the first place, with Uttar Pradesh coming in second," he noted.
"Young people in our country are receiving new chances to showcase their talents. Numerous platforms are being established for youth to exhibit their skills and interests," he added.
He also highlighted the Smart India Hackathon 2025, which concluded earlier this month.
"During this hackathon, students tackled over 270 challenges posed by more than 80 government departments, providing solutions for real-world issues. For example, regarding traffic, the youth suggested an interesting perspective on 'Smart Traffic Management'," he said.
Modi pointed out that the youth also proposed solutions for challenges like financial fraud and digital arrests, as well as a cybersecurity framework for digital banking in rural regions.
"Many young individuals focused on resolving challenges in the agriculture sector. Over the past 7 to 8 years, more than 13 lakh students and over 6,000 institutes have participated in the 'Smart India Hackathon'. The youth have successfully proposed accurate solutions for numerous problems. Such Hackathons are organized periodically. I encourage my young friends to participate in these Hackathons," the Prime Minister stated.
Highlighting the increasing influence of technology, Modi remarked, "Occasionally, individuals raise concerns about robots potentially replacing humans. In these evolving times, it is crucial to remain connected to our cultural roots for human development. I am delighted to see our next generation firmly embracing our cultural heritage."
He referenced the Indian Institute of Science, stating, "Through innovative thinking and methods, you might be familiar with the Indian Institute of Science. This institute is renowned for its research and innovation."
He reminisced how students at the institute recognized the need for music amidst their studies and research.
"A few years back, some students felt there should be a space for music alongside academic pursuits. As a result, a small music class commenced. It didn't require a grand stage or extensive funding. Gradually, this initiative evolved, and today, it is known as 'Geetanjali IISc'. It has transformed into a cultural hub on campus," he explained.
The Prime Minister mentioned that Geetanjali IISc now encompasses Hindustani classical music, folk traditions, and various classical genres, with participation from students, faculty, and their families.
He added that over 200 individuals are involved, and even those residing abroad continue to join online and stay connected.
Modi remarked that this commitment to cultural roots extends beyond India. Indians abroad are also actively involved in preserving their heritage.
For instance, he highlighted the Kannada families in Dubai, who pondered a significant question: As their children advance in the tech industry, are they drifting away from their language? This reflection led to the inception of 'Kannada Pathshale', an initiative that teaches children to read, write, learn, and speak Kannada. Today, over a thousand children are part of this initiative.
