Patna, Nov 14 (NationPress) The Yadav siblings, Tej Pratap Yadav from Janshakti Janata Dal and Tejashwi Yadav from Rashtriya Janata Dal, are both lagging in their respective Assembly constituencies as the counting continues for the Bihar elections, according to early trends reported at 2:30 p.m.
Tejashwi Yadav, who is the Chief Ministerial candidate for the Mahagathbandhan, is trailing in the traditional stronghold of the Lalu family, the Raghopur Assembly constituency, with the BJP's Satish Kumar leading as of 2:30 p.m., based on early data from the Election Commission of India (ECI).
The current RJD MLA, Tejashwi Yadav, who celebrated victories in both 2015 and 2020, is striving to retain his seat amidst fierce competition from BJP's Satish Kumar Yadav and Jan Suraaj's Chanchal Kumar.
Raghopur has historically been a bastion for the RJD, having been represented by Lalu Prasad Yadav, the party's founder, and his wife, Rabri Devi. Tejashwi has held this constituency since 2015, winning in 2020 with a margin of over 38,000 votes.
BJP's Satish Kumar Yadav previously triumphed against Rabri Devi in the 2010 elections while representing JD(U).
Significantly, one of Tejashwi Yadav's opponents is Prem Kumar from the Janshakti Janata Dal, a party founded by his estranged sibling, Tej Pratap Yadav.
Meanwhile, Tej Pratap Yadav is also trailing in the Mahua Assembly seat, with LJP(RV) candidate Sanjay Kumar Singh leading.
Tej Pratap Yadav, the son of RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, formed the Janshakti Janata Dal after being expelled from RJD earlier this year. He was the MLA for Mahua in 2015, while the seat was represented by RJD's Mukesh Kumar Raushan in 2020.
The ruling NDA appears to be on track for a significant victory in the Bihar Assembly elections, with current trends indicating the alliance surpassing the 200-seat threshold.
As of the latest trends at 2:30 p.m., the NDA is leading in 201 seats, whereas the Mahagathbandhan is currently at 36.
Over 70 crore voters participated in this election to determine the future of both the ruling NDA and the Mahagathbandhan, with polling conducted in two phases on November 6 and 11.
In the outgoing Assembly, the NDA holds 131 seats, which includes 80 from BJP, 45 from JD(U), four from HAM(S), and two Independents. The Opposition bloc comprises 111 seats, with RJD holding 77, Congress 19, CPI(ML) 11, CPI(M) two, and CPI two.
