Balaghat (Madhya Pradesh), Sep 25 (NationPress) Chief Minister Mohan Yadav responded strongly on Wednesday to state Congress chief Jitu Patwari, asserting that those who align with cow smugglers and slaughterers have no authority to critique the BJP government's efforts on cow protection in Madhya Pradesh.
Yadav accused the Congress party of having no genuine commitment to cow protection, claiming that they have historically maintained ties with cow smugglers. He remarked that whenever the government takes action against cow smugglers, Congress leaders begin to express their outrage.
“In the past, they criticized Ladli Behna, and now they have fabricated a new narrative, claiming that the BJP government has eliminated all GST on beef. It’s essential to enlighten these ‘fools’ that cow slaughter is not permissible under the BJP administration,” Yadav stated.
This statement was made in response to Patwari's assertion that the BJP government has abolished all GST on beef, while also highlighting that India is a leading exporter of the meat, which is prohibited in many states.
“Since the BJP assumed control in 2003-2004, the conditions in Madhya Pradesh have transformed. Not only is cow slaughter illegal, but cow smuggling has also been eradicated. When our government takes action against cow smugglers, these individuals start complaining,” Yadav noted during a public event in Balaghat.
In a press conference held in Bhopal, Patwari remarked, “The BJP government has set a 0 percent GST on beef. Why would a party that claims to revere Mother Cow implement no tax on beef? Does this not reveal the BJP's contradictions?”
Patwari argued that the BJP is enabling cow slaughter, stating that records of such activities peaked during the Narendra Modi administration. He questioned, “If beef from India is being exported, where is it sourced from, given that the BJP governs both at the Centre and in the states?”
Patwari provided data indicating that for the financial year 2024-25 (up to October), Indore led beef exports with a total value of ₹9,387.60 crore, followed by Dhar with ₹8,338 crore, Raisen at ₹4,330.4 crore, Singrauli at ₹2,402.7 crore, and Sehore at ₹2,195.8 crore. Other notable exports included Dewas at ₹2,045.2 crore, Ujjain at ₹1,185.7 crore, Bhind at ₹9,276.6 crore, Bhopal at ₹8,499.9 crore, and Morena at ₹7,746.6 crore.
The comments received backing from Uttar Pradesh Congress chief Ajai Rai, who reiterated Patwari's allegations of the BJP's “double standards.”
PCC chief Jitu Patwari has also declared that the Congress party will stage significant protests on September 26 and 27 to expose cow slaughter and beef exports occurring under the BJP regime.
